A Place to Live
Earlier this year I stayed at Boulcott in Lower Hutt. It's a Wellink property and the staff were really nice. I am an independent living client, so after three months I searched for a flat. My support worker helped me a lot. I finally found a one bedroom place in Eastbourne. I have my freedom to do what I want within reason. It's a good idea for people to live independently if you can.
Moving On
I moved into Mount Cook not long after it first opened. Wellink was alot smaller then. Wellink staff supported me in a lot of ways, especially with medical and realtionship issues by just listening or going with me to places in the community, especially when my confidence was at a low ebb. Wellink also helps people to find work and I found this really good for my confidence levels and also having a say especially about my experiences. They supported my a great deal to get into independent living after I had lived in places only fully staffed for close on sixteen years. Now I get home support once a week through Wellink. That's great for me!!
My Key We Way Experience
I had thought there was no hope to the situation I had been in for quite a while now and things were really starting to overwhelm me and everywhere I looked for help it was not there, until I got referred to the recovery house, Key We Way. It took me a day or two to find my head again, but it was great to be able to talk to people who have been through similar experinces and, with their help, I discovered there are support networks out there and I feel a little bit more positive now. I met some really nice, genuine, caring people here and I won't forget it and hope that others at a loss in life are fortunate enough to find their way here. Thanks.
