Virginia MacEwan
Virginia joined Wellink Trust in 2006.
All of Virginia’s work has been in the health sector, with time spent in social work then management roles. While most of this work has been in mental health she also has significant experience in community health and maternity services, and as primary care portfolio manager, DHB planning and funding. Latterly Virginia worked for the Health Research Council of New Zealand as Director of Mental Health Programmes, with particular responsibility for the national epidemiology study, Te Rau Hinengaro, and for the national Mental Health Research and Development Strategy programme of work.
Virginia has a Masters in Public Policy from Victoria University and a Masters in Management (Health Services) from Massey University. Recently she completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Sector Evaluation Research.
Virginia’s commitment to improving services for people with mental illness is driven by her experience of living with family members during their times of severe distress. She knows that recovery is a lengthy process that involves the person themselves and the whole family. She feels privileged to work with an organization of people who really want to make a difference for communities.
