
A key part of the way we work is our strong emphasis on peer support. There is sound evidence that skilled, trained people who have lived through the experience of mental illness and recovery are better able to assist others recovering, with increased empathy and understanding. The other big advantage of peer staff is the living proof that things can and do get better – there really is hope.
Community Link is made up of a team of support workers who assist people who live in their own homes. The focus of the service is to help individuals plan for their recovery and achieve their goals. Community Link also covers youth and services for older people.
We work throughout the Wellington region in close partnership with mental health clinical services. While much of our work is carried out by mobile support workers, we have pleasant residential and respite facilities at a number of attractive locations also staffed by trained support workers.
